Sam’s Take

I’ve always been a big fan of rich malty brown ales and I truly feel that they are under appreciated in today’s craft beer world. They cautiously ride that middle-ground between lighter amber ales and richer, roastier stouts. The brown ale gives you the best of both worlds to satisfy all your beery desires.

As for the name, it’s a play on the title of one of my favourite albums of all time, “Twice Removed” by Sloan. We had a tank that we’d taken two beers out of to create ‘Sugarpants’ and ‘Background Information.’ When asked how much was left in tank, I literally said, “Well not much, it’s been twice removed”.  At which point, the name stuck. I then asked Sandi, our very talented in-house artist, to come up with an image that fit the name. She scoured the album’s lyrics to come up with a drawing that does both the beer and the album justice. If you’re a Sloan fan…you’ll get it.
