Located in Gravenhurst Ontario, the gateway to Muskoka, Sawdust City Brewing Company is dedicated to the art and science of creating exceptional craft beers. We produce traditional ales and lagers in an array of styles, but there is nothing traditional about the flavour. Our brewmaster, Sam Corbeil, and his talented team create exciting beers that expand the borders of traditional flavour profiles. The rule at Sawdust City is there are no rules. We are just here to make great beer.
In addition to our six year-round core brands, we brew exceptional seasonal offerings, exciting limited batch brews, barrel-aged and experimental beers. Of course all of our beers are all-natural and made with only the finest ingredients. We don’t take ourselves too seriously as our labels express and hey, beer should be fun! What we do take seriously is the quality of our beers, which we are sure you will enjoy.
Founded by Rob & Karla Engman and Sam Corbeil, Sawdust City Brewing Company first began brewing beer at the Niagara College Teaching Brewery on Halloween 2011. During that time, recipes and brands were developed and perfected. In July 2013, the former Canadian Tire building in Gravenhurst was purchased and just one year later, in July 2014, the first official beer brewed at Sawdust City Brewing Company was packaged out of the brand new tanks. Proud to call Gravenhurst home, ‘Sawdust City’ was the nickname of the town in the days when mills and lumberyards lined the shores of Lake Muskoka in Gravenhurst.
In keeping with our Muskoka home and surroundings, many of our beers pay tribute to the history and the glory of Muskoka.
The 20,000 sq. ft. facility is located on the main street of Gravenhurst and includes a 24hL Canadian-made brewhouse, canning line, barrel-aging room, a large retail store and Tap Room, endearingly titled ‘The Saloon’. The retail store sells cans, bottles and growlers, Canadian made merchandise and local products. We are dedicated to being as local and sustainable as possible, making sure everything we sell is responsibly sourced. The focal point of the Tap Room is a 24-foot live-edge bar milled from a 100-year-old naturally felled pine tree, honouring the long history of logging in Muskoka. The Tap Room features 18 draught lines, tasting flights, mug club, and tutored tastings. Brewery tours are available Saturdays. Click here to book one today!
