Hazy Pine

Sticking with the same hop bill we’ve used for years and of course that signature beautiful orange colour you’ve come to expect, this is Lone Pine… but with a twist! We’ve played with the malt bill and changed up the yeast to create a one-off “Hazy” version of our long time flagship IPA. Expect a hazy orange hue, with big hop aromas and flavours, thicker, ‘full body’ mouthfeel and a slicker, more sticky finish.

Get it at the brewery and online store Thursday, August 20th.

Ingredients: Pure Muskoka Water, Canadian 2-Row Barley, Caramunich Type 1, Flaked Oats, Wheat, Summit, Simcoe, Columbus, Chinook Hops, Foggy London Yeast.

Sam’s Take

Lone Pine has been the “flagship” beer at Sawdust for almost 10 years now. I still remember it’s launch party at the Burger Bar in Kensington market way back in December of 2011. Over those years we’ve had many changes, iterations and permutations of our personal favourite West Coast IPA. We’ve done Imperial versions. Black IPA versions…even sour versions…so why not a Hazy version?  As we move towards some changes to the look of our beloved flagship IPA (more on that in the coming weeks), we wanted to give it a proper send-off, with this new amped-up version. We took the base recipe of Loner and added some wheat and oats to soften the body.  Swapped out the yeast for Foggy London and changed the water chemistry to create the perfect hazy version of a classic west coast IPA. Here’s to Lone Pine and here’s to another 10 years!
