Our hearts feel warm!

This October, Sawdust City Brewing Company is once again hosting our annual month-long campaign in support of a local animal charity in Muskoka. As a cause near and dear to the team at Sawdust City, we look forward to bringing attention to Paws of the North Rescue whose mission it is to assist isolated northern communities with animal care through rehoming dogs in need, supplies & food, wellness, spay & neuter clinics and more. All proceeds collected from our month-long campaign go directly towards supporting these animals in need.

DOGTOBER line-up: (due to COVID-19 we regretfully will be unable to host on-premise events as we’ve done in previous years).

Our Dogtober initiative is inspired by Bella and Baxter, brewery owners Rob & Karla Engman’s beloved Schnoodles. Karla shares her story about the inspiration behind this important initiative.

“I have always loved animals and knew we had to give a voice to those who cannot speak. I believe it is our responsibility to protect and care for animals that need our help. That is why we at Sawdust City Brewing Company started the Bella and Baxter Initiative; to help support local no-kill rescue shelters by not only raising funds but also contributing food, blankets and anything else that is needed.

The name of the program was inspired by our two Schnoodles; Bella and Baxter. They were our happy place for over 18 years. Sadly, last year Baxter crossed the rainbow bridge and Bella crossed over the year before. The Bella and Baxter Initiative gives 100% of all donations and our amazing team donates their time as well. We are truly committed to this program and for the month of ‘Dog-Tober’ we will be bringing some new virtual events that will be interactive and a lot of fun, but also raise the much-needed donations including money, food, beds, harnesses and gift certificates.

We appreciate your continued support and contributions to the Bella and Baxter Initiative, helping our local shelters to continue to offer safe havens and forever homes for those animals in need of protection and care. Join in and support the cause! You can drop off donations at the Sawdust City Brewing Company or pledge online. We would also like to introduce you to Hank the Yorkie, our newest team member who will carry on the goal of the Bella and Baxter Initiative. Please check the website often to find out how you can participate and meet all 6 pounds of Hank ‘The Tank’.”

The whole Sawdust City team is dedicated to saving the innocent lives of those without a voice.  Sawdust City wants to thank you for helping us help our furry friends.
