Sam’s Take

Back in 2011 I was searching for a beer idea for Volo Cask Days. It was a lot of pressure and I kept drawing a blank…until my wife (ie – Sugarpants) suggested I make a beer that tasted like a chai latte. At the time, it sounded outrageous but I took on the challenge to recreate the warm, spicy feeling of a chai latte…but in beer form. I brewed the first batch on the Niagara College pilot system and brought it to Cask Days that year. We also had a keg of it at The Griffin Gastropub in Bracebridge. I really liked that first version and have always wanted to recreate it. Over the years Sugarpants evolved into a flavoured brown ale that would change each year. But with 52 different beers, this year seemed like a great time to go back a recreate that original version. Thanks Sugarpants!
